DANROW, ECLIPSED LAND
POPULATION: 40,000

Deep in a secluded forest lays a canyon that is frequently flooded and difficult to find from the ground. There is only a brief time every day when the sun is directly above during which the canyon is touched by light. The floor receives barely thirty minutes of sunlight daily. It is here that a group of escaped Animalfused found when breaking free from their Human creators after the Human-Dragon war.

The Animalfused evaded discovery from the Kingdom for centuries by building homes directly into the cliffside of the canyon. The people of Danrow knew harsh lives and built equally harsh customs to survive the wild land and stay hidden from the Human Kingdom. Descendants of the original founders organize the city and assign jobs to the citizens. Cliffside dwellings are assigned based on social order. Higher valued members of society are given more prestigious dwellings higher up the cliffside. The highest go to those who provide food or manage floods. Leaders, which most other cities would consider the highest position, are housed at the bottom. Danrowans believe it is proper for those who make decisions to accept the most risk.

The life of a Danrow citizen is an austere one, with little in the way of possessions or luxuries. Punishments are swift and harsh. Criminals are branded so all may immediately know their crimes. The worst criminals are executed or denied cliffside dwellings, which is largely considered the same fate.

The forests surrounding the cliffs of Danrow are lands inhabited by Pixies since before recorded history, their hidden homes in the trees connected by gossip and pranks. In jest, these Pixies spread rumors of a hidden city of gold deep in the woods—a city where gods lived and kept monstrous pets and where a fountain showering wine would grant immortality.

These rumors and stories inevitably led to the discovery of the city by Keridwyn explorers. When this finally occurred, Keridwyn welcomed Danrow into the Kingdom with open arms. The leaders of Danrow knew this ‘welcoming’ for the demand that it was and chose to join the kingdom, rather than be destroyed. Many in Danrow still harbor resentment toward Pixies for their part in causing the city’s discovery.

Danrow worships many of the same gods as Keridwyn. However, their stories and art depict them with animalistic traits, rather than the Human traits Keridwyn’s regale. Along with their beliefs that Humans are either lesser versions or out of favor with the gods, these beliefs cause much discomfort among the other cities. Since the Gates of Keridwyn proper have closed, many urge attacks against Danrow out of fear of the corrupted city in the woods with twisted, blasphemous views.

Despite this fear, Danrow has an open heart for those in need, especially those displaced by hardship. Any willing to accept the rules are harbored here. Since the collapse of the kingdom, their population has diversified, but Animalfused remain the highest portion of the population.

HEROES OF DANROW
Silma has a scaled reptilian body much like a wingless Dragon with five long necks ending in serpentine heads. She is monstrous in size and appearance. Her belly slides along the ground as her long claws grasp the ground with powerful grips. Her necks can raise her slitted eyes above the treetops.

When multiple souls inhabit a single body, the result is an Aberration. This rare sight can be brought on by cosmic accident or malice, but the mind seldom retains its sanity in either case. However, Silma’s unique physiology gave her an advantage. Five souls, five heads, five minds. Each contains their own distinct personality, but all go by the name Silma. She is a sisterhood of vipers ancient enough to remember the land untouched by Men.

It was her canyon the Animalfused chose to make their refuge. Four of the heads were sympathetic or found them amusing and outvoted the one who wished to eat the newcomers. Silma watched for generations in the deep shadows of the cavern until an armed band arrived from Symtar. The Human leader convinced that slaying the blasphemers of Danrow would earn favor from the gods and bless their attempt to clear the Endless Tower. This time, the one head convinced the four and the armed band became Silma’s next meal.

Her defense of the city made her presence known to Danrow citizens. When they realized that the giant snake monster wasn’t going to eat them, they wisely chose to cultivate a relationship with Silma. Since then, she has been a revered member of Danrow.

Tusk is a Rhino based, four-legged variant of the Mammalfused species. This ‘Rhinotaur’ is as large as a warhorse. He wields speed and bulk in large portions. His surprising dexterity, combined with his prowess for Gravity magics, allow him to outmaneuver opponents and even run up sheer walls.

Tusk is a runner by trade. Delivering packages, messages, and people where they are needed has earned him a dwelling three quarters up the cliffside. He loves Danrow. Its hardy people have his respect and the gorgeous view over the cliffs hold his heart. When the call to battle came, Tusk didn’t hesitate to rise to the occasion in defense of his home.

Tusk doesn’t bother attempting to understand the muddy politics that drive the cities to conflict. As a result, he dislikes when he is called to go on offensive actions against other cities. He would rather stay in Danrow, unless the conflict takes him to Enviro, where he hopes to teach a lesson to the arrogant and self-centered deserter, Tharn.
